UniMentor

A mentor is a later-year student who understands how hard it can be when you first start uni.

Getting a mentor is a good choice when you are new. It's especially valuable if you don't know many people here at UWA.

Mentors have a wealth of knowledge and experiences to share, so please make the most of their experience to help you in those first weeks. Once you feel settled, just let your mentor know you no longer need their assistance.

Once you have signed up, be sure to attend your UniMentor Linkup during Orientation to meet your mentor. You will find out details of your linkup when you find out your Orientation timetable. At the Linkup we will talk with you about:

  • the aims of the program
  • what to expect from your mentor
  • what your mentor will expect from you
  • how you can get involved in the social activities organised by UniMentor.

After that, you will meet your mentor and spend some time getting to know them and the other students in your mentor group. Your mentor will talk to you about settling into uni, give you advice and answer any questions you might have at that time or later. During Orientation, your mentor will exchange contact details with you and then plan another get-together during week 1.
