Orientation is an important time for all new students. At orientation you will:
The main university-wide orientation is always held in the week before classes start. It is expected that you will attend and participate during Orientation, as we know it will give you vital information to get you started well in your studies. You will have an opportunity to attend activities on any day during O-Week.
To find out which events and activities relate to your course, refer to the Orientation Schedule (below) to determine the days you will need to attend. Activities during O-Week have been organised around your "degree specific major" area of study or "area of interest" if you haven't decided what major to take. We have general activities scheduled such as 'Student Life" and "Learning at UWA" and these are available to all students, daily Monday - Thursday.
You may be required to attend a number of events, on different days, according to your area/s of interest.
If you are an international student, you will be also be required to attend activities specifically for International students. We also have an activity for Mature Age students. These events do not replace Orientation activities.
It is expected that all new students attend as participation in Orientation is the best way to get you settled in quickly to your new environment.
The main events on Friday of O-Week are the Commencement Ceremony and the Guild O-Day Festival. These events formally welcome you to UWA and celebrate the start of the Semester.
It is really important that you check back into this site to view your Orientation Schedule closer to your orientation event date, in case the information has been updated.
